There are seasons when life feels slow, almost as if time is gently stretching itself across the days. And then there are moments when you look up and wonder how time managed to pass so quickly. One minute you’re moving through the rhythm of your daily routine, and the next you realize another year has quietly slipped by.
“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
— Ecclesiastes 3:1
Routine has a way of feeling ordinary. Waking up, making coffee, moving through the responsibilities of the day, sometimes it can feel repetitive, even a little boring. But every now and then, there are those slow, quiet mornings when the house is still and the world feels calm. Those are some of moments I treasure. In the silence, I find space to reflect, to breathe, and to remember my why.
Ever since my daughters were born, they have been that reason for me.
I still remember holding my oldest daughter for the first time, looking into her tiny eyes and feeling a kind of love that’s hard to describe. It was instant, overwhelming, and unconditional. In that moment, I realized how deeply life had changed. Her life depended on me. For love, for nurturing, for guidance, for everything. I felt incredibly blessed and grateful to become a mother.
When my second daughter was born, the dynamic shifted in a new way. Suddenly I was raising a toddler and a newborn at the same time. The days were full, busy, and often built around routines… feeding, naps, bedtime, and everything in between. At times it all blended together into the rhythm of daily life. But even within that routine, there was always purpose.
Motherhood has a way of grounding you like that.Over time, our family grew in another beautiful way when Hailey and Bubba became part of our lives. They were little when we first blended our family, and they brought a whole new rhythm into our routine. I remember Bubba being so small, hugging my leg and wanting to be close by. Hailey loved curling up on the couch wanting cuddles from me whenever she could. I loved soaking up those quiet moments together.
Life suddenly became fuller in the best way… sometimes a little chaotic, but filled with love and laughter. Watching all four of the kids together, seeing their personalities mix,
and the back and forth bickering throughout the house and the way they naturally formed their own bond reminded me how beautiful blended families can be. Those moments added another layer to our everyday routines, shaping our home in ways I never expected but deeply cherish.
As the years pass, those routines slowly evolve. The quiet moments start to look different. Instead of rocking a baby to sleep, you find yourself watching your children grow into their own personalities, ideas, and dreams. And during those reflective moments, you realize just how incredible life really is.
Sometimes I catch myself looking at my girls and remembering how small they once were. The memories come rushing back, their tiny hands, their laughter, the way they needed me for everything. And even though they’re growing into strong, independent young women, that love hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s grown deeper.
They are my reason why.
They are also the reason I’ve learned to look at the world differently. Life isn’t just about the big milestones or the once-in-a-lifetime moments. It’s also about the everyday ones. The conversations at the kitchen table, the shared laughter, the quiet mornings, the simple routines that hold a family together.
The routines I’ve built into my life aren’t just habits. They are foundations. They are rooted in my family, in love, and in the intention to be present for the moments that matter, both big and small.
Because when you pause long enough to notice, you begin to realize something important: the ordinary days are where life is really happening. The routines that once felt simple or repetitive are actually the threads that weave together the story of our lives.
And when I look at my kids, I’m reminded that those everyday moments, the ones that seemed so small at the time, were shaping something beautiful all along.
What are the quiet routines in your life that may be shaping something beautiful without you even realizing it?
